Jono and Lorna still live on the family farm in Queen Creek. He is leasing and farming the farm, growing cotton, wheat, cattle and pastures to feed the cattle. He and Lorna also take care of his parents who live nearby, watching to see that all their needs are met. He takes care of the books and check writing for the family business: Nevitt Farms LLLP, very efficiently and thoroughly. He is Scout Master in Bella Vista Ward, after having served in the Bishopric for a couple of Ward divisions. Lorna is busy (well, they both are) driving the kids to different schools, sports, school and Church activities. She is Queen Creek South Stake Primary President which keeps her very busy visiting the different Wards for their Conferences and any other help they might need, and putting on special Stake activities for the primary children. Lorna has also tended a baby this past year, practically raised it. She calls Lorna “Mama.”
Plus…both Jono and Lorna are over the 4-H Beef program, helping any and all who want to raise and show a steer at the 4-H Fair. It’s held in March and is a very busy month for them preparing all the animals. They take a trailer down to the Fairgrounds at Eleven Mile Corner, and stay in it during the week they have so much to do and work so hard feeding, shampooing and clipping the animals getting them ready to show, and helping all the kids in their 4-H group. They’ve done a great job for years! Jonny, Marshall AND Lacy have all made lots of money on the steers and lambs they’ve raised, shown and sold at the Fair…thanks to willing, helpful parents. Good job, Lorna and Jono!
Jonny is a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood, 14 years old, preparing the Sacrament table on Sundays, and going Home Teaching with his Grandpa each month…giving the lesson as assigned by his Grandpa! He will be going to Queen Creek High as a Freshman this next year. Marshall, 12 years old and a Deacon, passes the Sacrament and collects Fast Offerings and both boys work hard helping Jono irrigate the cotton and wheat, and also drive tractor this year, disking the wheat stubble. They’re a big help. Even during the school year, they take turns helping Jono irrigate the cotton before they go to school. Marshall is still in Queen Creek Middle School and he’s learning to play the electric guitar and doing very well.
Lacy is in her last year of Primary and will be entering 6th grade at Queen Creek Middle School. She played on a girl’s softball team this summer and loved it. She and Harlee both participated in a Diamond Back’s softball training camp, teaching them all about softball: catching, batting, sliding, catching, picking up balls in the field, etc. They both loved it. Harlee will be in 3rd grade this year. She, and Lacy, are taking piano lessons and doing well. Paden is growing up. He graduated from Kindergarten this year and will be entering 1st grade when school starts. He loves to play school, as do Harlee and Lacy! All of the kids, and the parents too, love to go four-wheeling together at the Sand Dunes, and they all love to swim in the family pool, as do all the extended family and all the neighbors and friends in Queen Creek and Johnson Ranch! Thanks so much, Nevitts for your hospitality and making us all feel welcome to party at the pool!
